Who are we?

Who are we in the silence of your heart? Who are we in our interactions with the world?

Who are we in the silence of your heart?

Who are we in our interactions with the world?

What do we express about our inner richness in our relationships today?

To answer these questions more and more freely in our daily lives, certain prerequisites are necessary…
Listening. Observing. Welcoming.

To know who I am, it is precious to be able to detach myself from what I think I am, from a whole system of thoughts, emotions, actions and reactions that have become automatic. This allows me to observe and question, to invite more presence into my life.

To do this, I sometimes need to slow down and pay attention. And that’s how I can become attentive, to myself and to others.

We often think we have a mountain of things to do. And, yes, every day we “have to do”.
The question is “Who” does, “Who” acts.
From what Consciousness?
What moves us? Lack? Fear? Duty? Guilt? Anxiety? Passion? Joy? Faith?
Who are we in what we do? What values do we express?
These questions are essential because they gradually refine our perception of who we are and the way we commit ourselves, which enriches our quality of life.
Instead of “having a mountain of things to do”, we realise that “we are a mountain”, in other words that we can be established in a foundation, in a stability and serenity that are the fruit of intimate knowledge of who we are.
Once recognised, these intrinsic qualities can be expressed in our actions, changing our relationship with the world, our interactions, and the very reality of our lives.

I’m going to share with you 3 paths that are special to me:
– Nature
– Meditation
– Breathing

Nature

“The voice of the Great Spirit can be heard in the chirping of birds, the lapping of water and the gentle breathing of flowers”. Zitlaka-Sa

For me, being in nature and walking is a deep source of renewal and a way of attuning myself to beauty. I’m always taught by what I see in nature, and I feel myself through its orderly contemplation.
For example, I arrived in London yesterday and went for a walk in Regent Park. I approached the trees with gratitude and wonder at their presence, the deep roots, the sturdy trunks, the innumerable branches with their ramifications, their leaves, flowers and fruit, and the seeds in the fruit. What splendour! I noticed that my breathing was different, calmer, and deeper. I thanked the trees for this alliance with animals and humans through their breath, their fruit, their flowers, and their wood. I thanked them for the teaching they give us through their presence and asked them how to live more in alliance. I welcomed their essence and asked to be taught. Then I felt their sap. And throughout my walk, I began to perceive this power of one life expressing itself in a distinct way in each blade of grass, in each plant, flower, tree, animal, human, in each species and in each individuality within each species, in every form… I began to look differently, to perceive the Infinite Love underlying each form. An immense care, an extraordinary beauty in this ordinary which then vibrates with order. Witnessing this Love naturally awakens in me a different, more conscious, and lively way of being and interacting with the world.
When we begin to dialogue with Creation within the world of forms, its creative essence is revealed in a way that is intimate and unique to each of us.

Meditation

“Without meditation, we are as if blind in a world of great beauty, full of light and colour”. Jiddu Krishnamurti

Meditation is a wonderful way of reaching the silence within us and getting to know ourselves. It allows us to reach a free, virginal field within ourselves from which we are constantly born to Life.

By appreciating these moments, savouring them, cherishing them, we desire these ‘encounters’ with a wider space that orders us, transforms us, reveals us. We open ourselves up to a wider space.

When I say meditation, I don’t necessarily mean sitting still. It’s a state of presence, pure and simple.

A good time to meditate is in the morning. We can observe:

How do we get up in the morning?

Are we aware of the breath that visited us throughout the night?
In gratitude for the homeostasis within our body during the night,
In appreciation of waking up now?

Do we remember our dreams?
With what impressions do we wake up now?
What are our first gestures, thoughts, emotions, and words?

We can wake up a little earlier and, at the dawn of this new day, make this appointment with ourselves: it helps us to orientate ourselves by focusing on what’s essential from the outset, and to have this alignment of Spirit-Soul-Body as a compass for our actions to come.

Little by little, we discover that this meditative field, this quality of presence, is always available, throughout the day, with our eyes open, in movement, in relationship, in action.

Breathing

“Breathing is the cradle of rhythm”. Rainer Maria Rilke

The first thing we do when we come into the world is breathe in and scream, that first gulp of air burning our lungs, our fists clenched.

The last thing we do when we leave this world is to exhale, to give up the breath, our hands open.

72 heartbeats and 18 breathing cycles per minute on average, the heart and lungs are in alliance for life within the cardiovascular system.
Life is given to us, and we don’t need to do anything about it: it breathes, it beats, it circulates, it lives!
However, we do have an impact on how it breathes, beats, circulates, and lives, depending on how we think, feel, speak and act…

One of the keys to becoming more freely aware, co-nurturing and benevolent is to witness what happens automatically in our bodies and to discover its secrets.

Breathing is the key to our intimacy with ourselves and it’s very simple, in the midst of everyday life, to just pay attention to our breathing and explore its modulations. We then learn a whole inner music theory that can lead us to great harmony.

I’m curious to hear how you connect with yourself.
